Pee Mak Phra Khanong (พี่มากพระโขนง)

Pee Mak.......

Hello Thai movie lovers! Here is another new Thai film that come into my country, Pee Mak. Starring Mario Maurer (มาริโอ้ เมาเร่อ), Davika Hoorne (ใหม่ ดาวิกา โฮร์เน่), Nattapong Chartpong (ฟรอยด์ ณัฏฐพงษ์ ชาติพงศ์), Pongsatorn Jongwilak (เผือก พงศธร จงวิลาส), and Wiwat Kongrasri. Directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun (บรรจง ปิสัญธนะกูล). The movie is about the love of Nak and Mak.
Last night I attend the Meet and Greet with the cast and the director. So, today I'm gonna tell you how it goes.

First, I will talk about the movie. Actually, Pee Mak is a remake of a movie titled Nang Nak released in 1999. I haven't watch that movie yet, but this remake is totally awesome. The film begins with Nak suffering from having a birth then the scene change to a scene of war, because Pee Mak movie sets in war situation. Although it is in war situation, you get to laugh very hard. War is not the main scene in this film but they really made it close to the real war field (based on film about war of course, I've never seen the real war field). After that, we get back to where Mak lives, Phra Khanong.
Mario and Davika really got a great chemistry, the romance between them is overflowing showed but in the same time we know there is something not right here. I love how Davika eyes playing here, her eyes are the key of her acting. Her eyes show us everything, love, sad, sorrow, and anger. You really have to watch Pee Mak. Mario also play really well, his dorky act is irresistible, however, in the end he will surprise you. Mak's friends, Ter, Puak, Shin, and Aey. They play the funny part, and they are the funniest ever! I couldn't stop laughing when they start to act.
One thing I love about Pee Mak is, there are sad, romance, horror, and funny part in one movie. Although I feel that funny part is dominating here, the other part has a strong impact too. Especially the romance between Mak and Nak. I don't know why but Thai people are really good at making soundtrack, they made a song that really fit with the movie. I may not know the whole translation of the song but IMHO the melody synchronize really well with the scenes. I found this Pee Mak soundtrack on youtube:
This Pee Mak OST is really stunning.

Overall, I was very well entertained by Pee Mak, two thumbs up for Director Banjong and all the cast!! They made really well, and their hard work paid off, the income they got on the 9th day passed 200 million baht. And I heard there's Pee Mak "fever" in Thailand.
Totally recommended!
Update: Pee Mak PhraKhanong has reached 1000 million baht!!! What a numerous number! So, are you curious about with this movie? Watch it now! Pee Mak will release in some countries in Asia, here's the list:

Now, move on to the Meet and Greet that held in Indonesia. There was not much talk here, only Director Banjong and Davika gave speech, a short one. I was surprised that all the cast except Davika did the harlem shake dance, it was hilarious. Let's just see the picture below.
